چکیده

The dominant paradigm for 3-D character animation requires an animator to specify the values for all degrees of freedom of an articulated figure at key frames. Specifying motion that is physically believable and biologically plausible is a tedious practice requiring great skill. We use evolutionary techniques (specifically Genetic Programming) as a means of controller synthesis for character animation. Controllers which drive a dynamic simulation of the character are evolved using the goals of the animation as an objective function, resulting in physically plausible motion. We discuss the development of objective functions used to guide the controller evolution, making reusable skill controllers, and comparisons of the convergence rates for different parameters of the evolutionary runs.

A comparative study of search and optimization algorithms for the automatic control of physically realistic 2-D animated figures

In the Spacetime Constraints paradigm of animation, the animator speci es what a character should do, and the details of the motion are generated automatically by the computer. Ngo and Marks [11, 12] recently proposed a technique of automatic motion synthesis that uses a massively parallel genetic algorithm to search a space of motion controllers that generate physically realistic motions for 2...

A genetic-fuzzy system for optimising agent steering

Fuzzy controllers are a popular method for animated character perception and control. A drawback of fuzzy systems is that time intensive manual calibration of system parameters is required. We introduce a new Genetic-Fuzzy System (GFS) that automates the tuning process of rules for animated character steering. An advantage of our GFS is that it is able to adapt the rules for steering behaviour ...

Velocity based controllers for dynamic character animation

Dynamic character animation is a technique used to create character movements based on physics laws. Proportional derivative (PD) controllers are one of the preferred techniques in real time character simulations for driving the state of the character from its current state to a new target-state. In this paper is presented an alternative approach named velocity based controllers that are able t...

An enhanced reliability-oriented workforce planning model for process industry using combined fuzzy goal programming and differential evolution approach

This paper draws on the “human reliability” concept as a structure for gaining insight into the maintenance workforce assessment in a process industry. Human reliability hinges on developing the reliability of humans to a threshold that guides the maintenance workforce to execute accurate decisions within the limits of resources and time allocations. This concept offers a worthwhile point of de...

پویانمایی شخصیت کارتونی با انتقال حرکت مفصلی و مبتنی بر اسکلت موجودات دیگر

Abstract: Nowadays, the animators give life to the fancy characters by making natural movements to organs of cartoon characters. To achieve this goal, movements of living individuals can be applied into cartoon characters. In this paper, a skeletal correspondence finding based method is proposed to transfer movement of a 2D character into a new character, where these two shapes have the same st...
